Hiring?

If you are looking at hiring a face painter this information may assist. Please note it is general/recommended information only and not intended to be legal or binding.
Things to consider:
Pricing varies considerably from painter to painter.

Is the painter you are booking with doing your job or sending someone else whose work you may not have seen? Is it the same quality level? Make sure you get what you are paying for.

Please consider the amount of faces you need painted and the time you have available when deciding how many artists you will need.

For example: even when painting very fast 2 minute designs, time is taken up seating and speaking to the child being painted so it would not necessarily be possible to paint 30 children in 60 minutes.

PAINTS
All of the Artist listed on this site will ONLY use paints that have been designed for professional use and comply with all the FDA regulations. As with any cosmetics, some people may be sensitive to any/all of the ingredients. Professional face paints have an anti-bacterial agent and are specifically for use of the face and skin. The Brands most commonly used are TAG, DFX, Wolfe, Global, Superstar & Kryolan.
These are all water based paints which will wash off with soapy water or even with baby wipes.

If the person to be painted has any kind of allergies (including but not limited to any adverse reaction to face paints previously), it is best to do a test patch before a complete face/body is painted. This is the responsibility of the parent or adult being painted to let the artist know.
We will be as careful as possible when painting, however, can accept no responsibility if face paint gets transferred on to clothing, carpets or other soft furnishings. Clothing that has been in contact with face paint should be cold soaked overnight in washing powder before washing normally.
Just because a paint says non toxic, does NOT mean it can be used on the face.

WH&S and HYGIENE
All of the Artists listed on this site hold Blue Cards for working with children and have Liability Insurance.
We reserve the right to refuse to paint a child who has a runny nose, fever, cuts and open wounds, cold sores, chicken pox, conjunctivitis, impetigo, ring worm, Eczema, any allergy or appears unwell. Please make sure your child’s face is clean and dry.

A good face painter will arrive at a job with a large supply of clean sponges. Sponges do stain, however no traces of paint should be on the sponges which should be thoroughly washed and rinsed after each job.
Brushes also should be thoroughly washed and rinsed between jobs. Water should also be regularly refreshed during the working period.

GENERAL
We will not paint anyone who does not want to be painted. (This may mean stopping half way through if a child changes their mind). We want face painting to be an enjoyable experience for everyone.
